14-year-old girl commits suicide after lover accuses her of cheating

Tragedy struck on Thursday as a 14-year-old JSS 3 student simply identified as Aishat allegedly took her own life after her lover allegedly threatened to kill her for cheating on him in Illorin, Kwara State.

Aishat, a student of Burihanudeen UBE School, Isale-Koko Ilorin, was said to have drank a poisonous substance suspected to be insecticide.
The deceased lover, 20-year-old Rafiu is currently at large while the other lover she cheated with has been apprehended by the police.

Rafiu, 20, a member of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), allegedly threatened to disgrace the deceased in her compound if he confirmed she was keeping a secret affair.
It was gathered that Aishat was discovered gasping for air after taking the poisonous substance and was rushed to a private hospital from where she was later referred to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) where she was confirmed dead.
