For the children and staff of Goshen Home & Orphanage, Akute, Ogun State, Monday, May 29th, 2017 will for a long time remain memorable; not just because it marked Nigeria’s Democracy Day but because the vulnerable children at the home were treated to an elaborate birthday bash by one of Nigeria’s amazons, a foremost educationist, Managing Director at Goals & Ideas and Principal Partner at Edumark Consult, Mrs Yinka Ogunde.<span id="more-28915" style="background: transparent; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;"></span></div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">
The celebrant, who came in the company of her husband, Barrister Wemimo Ogunde (SAN), her children, siblings and employees expressed great delight at the opportunity to share the joy of her special day with the less privileged, stressing that such vulnerable children need be showered with love, even as they are encouraged and supported to reach their full potential in spite of the loss or rejection they might have suffered in time past.</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">
The children at Goshen Home were also joined by the vibrant and upward-mobile youths ofBestspring Foundation, Ijegun, Ikotun in fulfilment of Mrs. Ogunde’s promise to visit them when the students attended the 2017 edition of her annual WATFON educational summit, which held in March at Vintage Point, Ikeja.</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">
Speaking on this occasion of his wife’s birthday, Barrister Wemimo Ogunderecalled how that he suffered a major setback in his academics at the tender age of 12 due to the loss of his mother.</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">
“I was born into a polygamous family, the popular Pa Hubert Ogunde dynasty. Unfortunately, my mother died when I was 12 years old, hence she did not even see me wear secondary school uniform. As in every polygamous house, the mother is the advocate for her children and she is the one to fight their course before other contenders in the home. So, where she is not there, the child is left to wander with no one to plead his case before his father. And so, in my case, my mother was not there to advocate for me and this of course marked the beginning of my failure. I started failing at school because there was no mother or father to check on me.My case was indeed hopeless until God raised some destiny helpers to counsel and mentor me. And that was how my life changed for good and today, I am a foremost lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria”, narrated Ogunde.</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">
The erudite lawyer therefore charged the children/youths not to bemoan the loss of their parents or cling to their pain as an excuse for failure. He urged them to rather make good use of the opportunities and destiny helpers that God sends their way and remain focused as they navigate through the hurdles of life.</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">
Corroborating this, his wife and celebrant, Mrs Yinka Ogunde urged the children to look on the brighter side of life, stressing that regardless of whatever situation or challenge that comes, they can still get to the top. Recounting how she and her siblings were raised by a single mother and how that in spite of the untold hardship all of them still turned out successful and outstanding in their different careers, she urged all vulnerable children to remain undeterred, work hard and put their trust in God who is able to see them through.</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">
She also charged well-meaning Nigerians to invest their time and resources towardshelping less privileged children achieve their dream through provision of educational scholarship, mentorship and welfare support.</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">
She promised to support those of that emerge with excellent result at the just concluded WAEC.</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">
While commending the amazing work and dedication of Mrs.AramideOikelome, the Executive Director of Goshen Orphanage and Bestspring Foundation in nurturing these hapless children and youths over the years, Ogunde prayed that God will continue to send helpers to the organization that will support it with their resources and time.</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">
In her response, Oikelome thanked Mrs. Yinka Ogunde and her family for believing in her vision and identifying with it. She also thanked them for defying all odds, including the deplorable condition of the Alagbole/Akute Roadto travel all the way to celebrate her birthday with the children and youths when she could have opted for more prominent and successful orphanages in the heart of town.</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">
The two-hour event was thoroughly fun-filled, with lots of wining and dining, dancing and exchange of pleasantries. The youths from Ijegun also seized the opportunity to tell Mrs.Ogunde howWATFON 2017 impacted their lives positively and changed their mind-set from that of mediocres to become change-makers that are confident that they have what it takes to excel in life and make Nigeria better.</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: 30px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">

<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
Motherland Beckons has recently signed a Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) with world class business enterprise, MUSIAD which would avail youths in Nigeria and Africa at large an opportunity to tap into the business and culture mix of both continents.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
Motherland Beckons is a creation of Otunba Olawanle Akinboboye, who is dedicated to opening Africa to the world and attracting Africans in Diaspora to the motherland. Over the years, Motherland Beckons has contributed to the wellbeing of Africans in no small way by offering a veritable platform to the Africans in the Diaspora and lovers of Africa to visit, invest and possibly come back to settle down in Africa.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
MUSIAD which stands for Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association is a “BUSINESSMEN’S ASSOCIATION” founded on May 5, 1990, in Istanbul, Turkey, by concerned businessmen who have a vision to forestall human rights and supremacy of the law, justice and equality, peace and security, and the welfare and happiness of the people.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
The Company in its philantropic modality is an active and strong Non-governmental organisation (NGO) that provides the platform for development, with dialogue, co-operation and solidarity as tools created for the purpose of contributing to the social, cultural, political, economic, scientific and technological development of individuals and institutions.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
With over 50,000 members cut across 11,000 corporations with branches in over 175 locations throughout the world, MUSIAD with the activation of the MoU has established an e-commerce portal where all Africans people can connect to purchase products from Turkey.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
The main headliner for this signed agreement is to create a concerted effort to connect Turkey with the entire continent of Africa and at the same time, create a platform in Turkey for Africa where the whole world can come to trade and exchange cultures with Africa .</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
In other words, those who deem the travel miles of Africa enervating can fly in from Europe, Asia and the Americas to Konya, Turkey, to connect with all parts of Africa.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
This was what gave birth to ATTC which stands for Africa Turkey Trade Center situated on the 20th floor of KULE plaza, Konya.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
In connecting with the entire continent of Africa, plans have been made to establish business offices in all the 54 African countries which commenced last year with the Lagos and Ghana offices opened.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
This is a platform created for the whole continent of Africa in one portal for the world to trade and connect with especially people of African descent and lovers of Africa. People all around the world can log on to www.attc.web and be rest assured of a business like never before.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
Cote Divoire and the rest are slated for 2017. The forum welcomes business interactions amongst entrepeneurs and investors, so only serious minded business people and organizations are given audience on the platform.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
Also, they are in the process of twinning a major city in Nigeria with a major city, Konya. This process is meant to set the shores of Africa ablaze beyond the borders and as well bring together universities of varying culture, customs and lifestyle for educational enhancement. This platform also births the mixture of African and Turkish music in a concert tagged “Africa Turkey Music amalgamation”.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
Motherland Beckons on the 1st of May, 2017 unveiled the Diaspora Nigerian Economic Recovery and Growth Plan–DNERGP at its headquarters in Lekki Lagos. It is a tourism initiative to revive the ailing Nigerian economy, in consonance with the recently launched Economic Recovery and Growth Plan 2017-2020-ERGP by the federal government.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
This comes as an actualization of the benefits and vision of the MoU signed in December. The efforts to resurrect the ailing tourism sector and yet convalesce the entertainment industry has brought to the fore a leisure and entertainment ‘investment’ which would cover accommodation, feeding and transport for three days of fun, recreation, authentic African music, drama, poetry, nightclubbing, etc.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
Hence, for ease of operations and logistic flexibility, activities have been covered with the creation of Destination Lagos; Destination Cross River; Destination Abuja and Destination South West. A foremost tour operator in Nigeria has been appointed to see the activities through. With this initiative, expectations are high for the first operational year to the tune of one million Nigerians and their one million friends,with a corresponding $2B injection into the Nigerian economy.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
Earlier estimates did not take into consideration the cost of a return ticket by diasporans who would eventually spend 1000USD and additional expenses on up-keep, souvenirs, shopping, and sometimes, tips. Hence this would most likely translate to about $4,000 per visiting diasporan in rough estimates. Some diasporans may come with more than one friend with each friend spending a minimum of 1000USD.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
Moreover, with convictions and belief that from the projected 2 million visitors annually, about ten percent (about 200,000) would take advantage of the available business opportunities offered by the Motherland Beckons/MUSIAD Agreement to invest a minimum of $10,000 in the economy. This automatically translates to an additional $20B investment into the Nigerian economy.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
As MUSIAD is a conglomerate of business minds, there is also the business plan where Diaspora Nigerians who are interested in doing business at home but cannot fathom what to do and how to go about it can be distributors and part owners in companies and businesses with good rate of returns on investment,under the auspices of the Motherland Beckons/MUSIAD Treaty,signed in December,2016.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">
MUSIAD is bent on creating a Diaspora Nigerian Industrial Zone for an eventual production of the products of these companies after three years of test run and acclimatization with the huge Nigerian market.About 2000 of these companies are ready to start business in Nigeria as soon as possible.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 26px; margin-bottom: 26px;">

Popular Ghanaian Actress, Yvonne Okoro, has revealed why she has been single for over two years.</div>

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; display: block; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; margin: 0px 0px 15px; orphans: 2; padding: 0px; text-align: start; text-decoration-color: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px;">
She said the reason is that men are scared to ask her out because they see her as a high-class lady.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
She said this in an interview during the launch of Glam Africa Magazine in Accra.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
According to her, she is willing to date any man as long as he understands and makes her happy, contrary to perceptions that she prefers high society men.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“The issue is men don’t have balls to come forward to ask me out because they think I am already hooked or perhaps I am very high maintenance.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“Also, I may still be single because most people think celebrities are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing partners but that is a very wrong perception.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“A good number of celebs are single because they are confused as to who to accept in their life. You see, you are not sure if the person is coming in because of your fame and money or the person wants to be with you because of real love.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“It is not about money but if a man is not brave enough to come forward then I do not think I want to be with such a person.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“Anyway, who wants to be with a timid man? She queried.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
When asked if she had met her dream man, Yvonne said “No I haven’t but I hope to meet him very soon.”</div>

Minna Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday sentenced five men to three-year imprisonment each, after they admitted committing adultery.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f7f7f7; box-sizing: inherit; color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.9); font-family: "Frank Ruhl Libre", serif; font-size: 20px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">
They were, however, given an option of N150,000 fine each.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f7f7f7; box-sizing: inherit; color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.9); font-family: "Frank Ruhl Libre", serif; font-size: 20px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">
The accused: Mohammed Faruk, Johnbosco Dedan, David Momoh, Sunday Ekuese and Vincent Emmanuel, were arraigned alongside Naomi Abdulmajeed on a two-count charge of enticing a married woman and committing adultery.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f7f7f7; box-sizing: inherit; color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.9); font-family: "Frank Ruhl Libre", serif; font-size: 20px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">
The Prosecutor, Inspector Emmanuel Danladi, had told the court that one Abdulmajeed Akin of Tunga, Minna, reported the matter at the Tudun Wada Police Station on April 28.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f7f7f7; box-sizing: inherit; color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.9); font-family: "Frank Ruhl Libre", serif; font-size: 20px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">
Danladi quoted the complainant as alleging that his wife, Naomi, had intimate relationships with the other accused persons who each had sex with her on different occasions and at different venues.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f7f7f7; box-sizing: inherit; color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.9); font-family: "Frank Ruhl Libre", serif; font-size: 20px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">
He said that some of the accused persons were said to have slept with complainant’s wife in her matrimonial home.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f7f7f7; box-sizing: inherit; color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.9); font-family: "Frank Ruhl Libre", serif; font-size: 20px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">
The offences, he said, were contrary to sections 389, 387 and 388 of the penal code.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f7f7f7; box-sizing: inherit; color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.9); font-family: "Frank Ruhl Libre", serif; font-size: 20px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">
When the charges were read to the accused persons, they all pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f7f7f7; box-sizing: inherit; color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.9); font-family: "Frank Ruhl Libre", serif; font-size: 20px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">
The prosecutor thereafter asked the court to try them summarily in line with Section 157 of the Criminal Procedure Code.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f7f7f7; box-sizing: inherit; color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.9); font-family: "Frank Ruhl Libre", serif; font-size: 20px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">
He also prayed the court to order the accused persons to pay a compensation of N500,000 each to the complainant.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f7f7f7; box-sizing: inherit; color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.9); font-family: "Frank Ruhl Libre", serif; font-size: 20px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">
Counsel to the accused persons, Obi Alex, however, prayed the court to temper justice with mercy, given their admission without wasting the time of the court.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f7f7f7; box-sizing: inherit; color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.9); font-family: "Frank Ruhl Libre", serif; font-size: 20px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">
Delivering his judgment, the presiding magistrate, Mohammed Hassan, sentenced the accused persons to three-year imprisonment each, or a fine of N150,000 each.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f7f7f7; box-sizing: inherit; color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.9); font-family: "Frank Ruhl Libre", serif; font-size: 20px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">
He, however, ordered the complainant’s wife to pay a fine of N10,000 only.</div>
<div style="background-color: #f7f7f7; box-sizing: inherit; color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.9); font-family: "Frank Ruhl Libre", serif; font-size: 20px; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;">
The judge also ordered the other five accused persons to each pay a compensation of N100,000 to the complainant. (NAN)</div>

“But they went behind to instigate Buhari and some other people in the party against me on the pretext of religion. That was not right. They were canvassing arguments that the Christians in the North would not vote for a Muslim-Muslim ticket,” Tinubu had said.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Reacting however, Fani-Kayode in a Facebook post on Thursday, said El Rufai had wanted Buhari to pick Fashola, former Lagos governor as his running mate.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
He wrote, “The Muslim/Muslim ticket was their plan all along and I was the first to expose and oppose it when I was in APC. That is why I left them.</div>

“Obasanjo opposed it too. Saraki did so behind the scenes. El Rufai did not oppose a Muslim Muslim ticket. It is just that he didn’t want Tinubu. He wanted Fashola.</div>

<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has cautioned former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on New Media, Reno Omokri over his antagonistic comments against President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
EFCC made the remark while reacting to a comment by Omokri, saying “Ghost President, with ghost achievements fighting ghost workers with an EFCC that goes after his ghost monies in apartments owned by ghosts.”</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Omokri, a United State based Pastor has remained one of the fierce critics of the current administration.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Reacting to the comment, the anti-graft agency noted that Omokri could be President someday and so he should respect those ahead of him.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
In a tweet on its twitter handle, on Thursday, the anti-graft agency noted that while Omokri is entitled to his opinion and could criticize the government’s policies, he should note that the least the president of any country deserves is respect of its citizens.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
The tweet reads, “Reno it’s your prerogative to disagree with a public official, an institution or even the President but that office must be respected.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“You may find yourself in that position someday and the least you would expect of anybody is respect.”</div>

The palace of the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has reacted to the snub of the monarch by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, a public function in Lagos on Tuesday.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

On Thursday, the Head of Palace Directorate of Tourism, Awoyemi Tunde, told newsmen on behalf of Ife Kingdom and elders, that the Ooni of Ife was not losing sleep over the issue.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“It is not a slap on the Ooni of Ife but rather a slap on the Oba of Lagos,” he said.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“The stool of Oba of Lagos was founded by Olofin Ogunfunminire and the Ooni of Ife is the Oba of Yoruba land.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“The Oba of Lagos has to come to terms with the fact that Ooni is the royal father of Yorubaland, it is necessary that all persons come together to unite Yoruba land but really the issue at the event is very condemnable”.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Tunde also said that the Oba of Lagos risked the wrath of the ‘Alale’ (Ancestors), as a result of his disrespect for the superior monarch.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“God gave Ooni of Ife Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the mandate to unite the Yoruba land and nothing will stop him from doing that,” he added.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
According to Tunde, reactions from different Yoruba communities would continue to pour in to denounce the action of the Lagos monarch.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“If we don’t receive an apology especially with the image of Ile-Ife, we will call on the ancestors on the issue,” the official added.</div>

<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
More revelations have emerged on the alleged conspiracy of the US in the electoral defeat of former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Jonathan had claimed that former American President Barack Obama, was responsible for his loss.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Jonathan had said, “President Barack Obama and his officials made it very clear to me by their actions that they wanted a change of government in Nigeria and we’re ready to do anything to achieve that purpose. They even brought some naval ships into the Gulf of Guinea in the days preceding the election.”</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Meanwhile, the US has since denied the allegation, insisting that <a href="http://dailypost.ng/2017/04/27/buhari-won-2015-election-nigerians-wanted-us-replies-jonathan/" style="border: 0px; color: #f01313; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration-line: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Jonathan lost the election </a>because Nigerians wanted him out.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
In an advance copy of ‘Against the Run of Play’, a book written by Segun Adeniyi, Babangida Aliyu, former Niger state governor and ex-chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, gave a hint of possible US involvement in the electoral defeat of Jonathan.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
He said the Obama administration invited 12 northern governors to the US to ascertain their level of commitment to removing Jonathan.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Aliyu said, although he had no proof of this, but expressed the belief that the reason for their invitation to the US was deeper than discussing the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“I have no proof of course, but I think the idea was to ascertain what the disposition of the north would be to the idea of another term for President Jonathan.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“That was my reading of the situation. I believe it was all about the 2015 election for which the Americans had resolved not to support Jonathan. They just wanted to size us up for the level of commitment to regime change,” Aliyu said.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Aliyu said in one of the sessions, Murtala Nyako, former Adamawa state governor, accused Jonathan of sponsoring Boko Haram with the intent of destroying the north.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
He added that Nyako’s accusation signalled to the Americans that the north was not in support Jonathan’s re-election bid.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“If Jonathan had been clever enough to say he would not run and had stuck with the PDP zoning formula by supporting a young northern candidate, I am most certain Buhari would have shelved his ambition to contest in 2015, knowing there was no way he would win,” he said.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
The book, which details how Jonathan lost the 2015 election, will be launched on Friday.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
A former Nigeria’s Senate President, David Mark, has said that ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan was too blind to see during the 2015 general elections.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Senator mark said he warned Jonathan of the conspiracy against him in the north before he lost the 2015 presidential elections.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Mark said this in the book, “Against the Run of Play: How an Incumbent President was defeated in Nigeria, written by the Chairman of ThisDay Editorial Board, Olusegun Adeniyi.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
He said that he saw the defeat coming and had pointed out the unrealistic voting projections made by the party about the North to the former president and the conspiracy against him but he was not taken seriously.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
According to him, “I saw it and at different times, I pointed out to him and the party that the projections being made by some people around the president about what the voting pattern in the north would were wrong.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“I could see the conspiracy and the gang-up building up in the north against the aspiration of Jonathan but my voice was drowned out by those who took it for granted that a sitting president, and one from PDP, could not lose.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“Some people were deceiving the president with the kind of false scenarios they were painting for him. The VP could see the conspiracy but I don’t know how much influence he had on the campaign. Why Jonathan couldn’t see it until it was too late is what I find difficult to understand.”</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman Prof. Attahiru Jega, has replied ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, over comments he made concerning the 2015 general elections.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Jonathan in a book, Against the Run of Play, written by ThisDay Editorial Board Chairman, Olusegun Adeniyi, <a href="http://dailypost.ng/2017/04/25/ex-inec-chairman-jega-disappointed-2015-goodluck-jonathan/" style="border: 0px; color: #f01313; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration-line: none; vertical-align: baseline;">expressed disappointment with how Jega conducted the election.</a></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Reacting though his Special Assistant, Prof Mohammed Kuna, Jega disagreed with Jonathan’s belief that the wide margin between the presidential election and National Assembly results in Kano State was a reflection of a flawed election.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
The former President said it was strange that the state recorded 1.8 million votes in the presidential poll and 800,000 in the National Assembly election on the same day.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
But Prof Kuna dismissed Jonathan’s claims and insisted that the introduction of the card reader made it difficult to manipulate elections and inflate results.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“There is nothing particularly special about the Kano result; it is a general trend as many voters were more interested in the presidential election than in other elections. That was what happened across the country and you can go and do the tabulation.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“With the card reader, it is no longer possible to return results that are higher than the accredited voters. If you analyse the results nationally, you will discover the same trend.”</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Meanwhile, Senator Abubakar Girei, who represented Adamawa Central Senatorial Zone from 1999 to 2003 has slammed Jonathan for blaming his electoral defeat in 2015 presidential race on some persons.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Girei said Jonathan was the architect of his own defeat and not anyone and <a href="http://dailypost.ng/2017/04/26/jonathan-bury-head-shame-senator-girei/" style="border: 0px; color: #f01313; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration-line: none; vertical-align: baseline;">that he should bury his head in shame.</a></div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has revealed that Senate President Bukola Saraki and Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, stopped President Muhammadu Buhari from picking him as his running mate in the 2015 presidential election.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Tinubu’s comments were contained in a book titled ‘Against the Run of Play,’ written by the Chairman, Editorial Board of ThisDay, Olusegun Adeniyi.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
He said their reason was that Christians in the North would not accept a Muslim-Muslim ticket.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Tinubu also revealed that El-Rufai wanted Pastor Tunde Bakare as Buhari’s running mate.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“What they (Saraki and others from the PDP) did behind my back was wrong. We always do things as a group. By the time they joined, we were already too far ahead in our processes but we accommodated them.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“We agreed to take their state structures and subsume them into the party and they all had their opportunity to nominate the candidates of their choices for different political offices.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“But they went behind to instigate Buhari and some other people in the party against me on the pretext of religion. That was not right. They were canvassing arguments that the Christians in the North would not vote for a Muslim-Muslim ticket.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“Nasir el-Rufai was also selling the same argument within the CPC (the defunct Congress for Progressive Change) because at that point, he still wanted to have Pastor Bakare brought in as Buhari’s running mate,” he said.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Tinubu said some Senators and Governors met with him on the eve of the primaries, to confirm if there was an agreement between him and Buhari to run together.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“I told them that it was better to resolve such issue after the primaries, but they wanted to make it a condition for supporting Buhari, which, for me, was very wrong.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“I told them I could not insist on this as a condition for my support for Buhari. I felt that was not right to hold Buhari hostage in this manner.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“I believe the support that we gave was fundamental to Buhari clinching the party nomination. Without that support, a different outcome would have been most likely,” Tinubu added.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Buhari eventually asked Tinubu to present three names for the position, but he only provided Yemi Osinbajo.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
“I backed down because I did not want to be depicted as causing a problem. I backed away from the position in order to offer Buhari a name I once raised with him in 2011: that of Professor Yemi Osibanjo,” he added.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; margin-bottom: 15px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

Suspected gunmen behind the abduction of Oniyani of Iyani-Akoko in Ondo state, Oba Joel Daodu have reportedly reduced the ransom to guarantee the release of the monarch from N15m earlier demanded to N5m, family sources have revealed.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: inherit; color: #333333; font-family: "Quattrocento Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 18px; margin-bottom: 1.625rem; padding: 0px;">

Already, residents of Iyani-Akoko are in prayer sessions to God to intercede in prompt release of the monarch from captivity.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: inherit; color: #333333; font-family: "Quattrocento Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 18px; margin-bottom: 1.625rem; padding: 0px;">
