The Director of Media and Publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has congratulated Gen. Muhammadu Buhari for his victory in the presidential election.
At a media briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, Fani-Kayode said: “we start by saying that we commend and we congratulate General Muammadu Buhari for winning this election”.
On the hate campaign he championed against Buhari and other leaders of the opposition, Fani-Kayode said: “There was absolutely nothing personal as regards this Directorate or myself. I had nothing personal against anybody. I was simply doing my job for which I have no regrets and I wish them well and I sincerely hope that they will take Nigeria to a level that we can all be proud of.”
He also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for having the courage to accept defeat at the earliest moment and also for being able to stand up and rise above party politics and being able to speak like a statesman.
According to him, the PDP fought a virile, strong, aggressive and very effective campaign, trying to justify why Jonathan deserved a second term.
He continued: “It has however come to a point that we must tell the world and the Nigerian people about how we feel about the outcome of the election. What we will say here today is basically to reiterate and to reflect the words of our leader and President, President Goodluck Jonathan.
“We therefore urge the Nigerian people and our teeming supporters to stand firm and continue to support the democratic process and continue to agitate for a better Nigeria.
“We urge them to continue to support our party the PDP as best as they can, even though we lost this election. We ask them to co-operate with the incoming government and to remember that we are first and foremost Nigerians before anything else.
“On the day of the election when I went to vote at Ile-Ife, I held a press conference in which I told the people that more than anything else, that we should try our very best to keep the peace in this country and to keep the country moving forward.
“I also reminded them that in every election there will always be a winner and a loser. It is a mark of our humanity and it is also symptomatic of the type of people that we are and who we are that when the time comes we can say we fought a good fight but we lost.
“And having lost, it does not mean that it is the end to the world, it just means that we need to re-group, re-organise ourselves and begin the process all over again because another election will come in a few years time.
“And that is where we are today. We have conceded that we have lost. We acknowledge the fact that we fought a good fight. We do not have any fears about the future.
“We did the right thing during the campaign. We have no regrets about our candidate or the way in which we conducted our campaign and we will live to fight another day
“May God grant each and everyone of us peace. May He watch over our nation. May He guide our President for the next two months whilst he is still in power and thereafter and may He guide and lead the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, in the herculean task that lies ahead of him.
“My prayer is that he brings our nation together, heals the wounds and that he builds the bridges in terms of religion, ethnicity and region that he needs to build in order for us to make Nigeria a better place and to ensure that Nigeria becomes a great country that she is destined to be”

Your vote affirms that you believe Nigeria’s future can be better than what it is today

Others will literarily be disappointed. I ask that we all be circumspect, respectful and peaceful in these times. This was a hard-fought contest. Emotions were high. We must not allow them to get the better of us.
This is not the time for confrontation. This is a moment that we must begin to heal the wounds and work toward a better future.
We do this first by extending a hand of friendship and conciliation across the political divide. We hope and pray our friends in other parties reciprocate.I thank all the members of the All Progressives Congress, the APC, for their commitment and their hard work through the formation of the party, the campaigns and the presidential elections.Let me equally express my appreciation to the media, civil society and security agencies for their selfless service. The international press and our friends abroad deserve a fair commendation for their support throughout the process. We promise a robust and dynamic engagement with your countries in matters of mutual interest.
In the interim, I call on all Nigerians to be law abiding and peaceful. The eyes of the world were focused on us to see if we can vote in a peaceful way and carry out elections in an orderly manner. We have proven to the world that we are a people who have embraced democracy and a people who seek a government by, for and for the people. We have put one party state behind us. We have voted for a government that will serve and govern, but will never rule over you.CHANGE has come and a new day and a new Nigeria is upon us.The victory is yours and the glory is that of our nation, NIGERIA.I will make a more formal address to the nation, later in the afternoon after I receive the certificate of return from the INEC.May God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.Nigeria’s President ElectMuhammadu Buhari

You must eradicate corruption, Obasanjo tells Buhari
Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has congratulated the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari over his victory at the Saturday presidential polls.
Obasanjo in his congratulatory message he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Abeokuta shortly after Buhari was declared winner of the election, said his government must reposition some national institutions such as Military, security power among others which according to him had been damaged.
He further urged the President-elect to rid the country of corruption , saying ,youth employment, agribusiness, oil and gas, external affairs, cohesiveness of our nation and ridding our land of corruption that had been damaged.
According to Obasanjo, “I hasten to congratulate you on your success and victory in the Presidential Elections of March 28, 2015. Your success and victory after three previous unsuccessful attempts must be great object lessons for you and for all politicians, particularly in Nigeria.
“For me, the totality of 2015 elections hold many lessons for our democracy and democratisation process which are both maturing.
“On this occasion, the system has been unnecessarily overheated before and particularly during the campaigns when emphasis was more on trivialities and hate, divisive, undignifying and disrespectful statements and comments rather than on pressing issues requiring attention.
“I know that in victory, you will be magnanimous to start binding the wounds and bitterness occasioned by the campaign and the evil disciples.
“With so much harm already done to many national institutions including the military, which proudly nurtured you and me, you will have a lot to do on institution reform, education, healthcare, economy, security, infrastructure, power, youth employment, agribusiness, oil and gas, external affairs, cohesiveness of our nation and ridding our land of corruption.
“Your varied and wide experience will undoubtedly stand you in good stead. I am also sure that there are men and women of goodwill, character and virtue across the board that you can mobilise to join hands with you in the reform, repairs and re-direction that will be imperative to put Nigeria back on the fast lane of good governance, unity, cohesiveness, development and progress”, he said.

APC, IBB, Atiku, Tinubu, Others Congratulate Buhari
Major General Muhammadu Buhari,
• Amaechi: We will be magnanimous in victory • Fayose urges Nigerians to accept result, imposes curfew
Chuks Okocha, Onyebuchi Ezigbo in Abuja and Olakiitan Victor in Ado Ekiti ̢۬
The ululation of victory and celebration is already reverberating across the land following the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the March 28 presidential polls.
Congratulatory messages have been pouring in from all quarters.
Congratulating the president –elect, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, stated that, former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, yesterday
"Let me formally congratulate General Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress for this well-deserved victory.”
In a statement he personally signed, IBB said: "This victory to me conveys two significant statements on our political history and evolution. First, that incumbents can be defeated in any democratic process if the people’s aspirations are not fulfilled.
"Second, that there is good reward for perseverance and hard work. General Buhari has been very consistent in pursuing his political aspiration. In fact, he reminds me of President Abraham Lincoln of the American fame, who was very dogged in pursuing his political aspiration and enriched the contents of democracy in America. General Buhari lives true to his military calling by remaining very consistent, resilient and courageous right from 2003 till date.
"This enviable feat to me further enriches our democratic process and matures us into the top echelon of nations where democracy has taken firm root. That President Jonathan has indeed conceded defeat and congratulated the President-elect is also cheering news.
"Let me also congratulate other presidential candidates of the other political parties, especially Mr. President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for putting up a good fight in the elections. I wish to also commend the Independent National Electoral Commission, for conducting such a free, fair and transparent election despite all the initial hitches and challenges.
"With this election and its outcome thus far, Nigeria has once again recorded another milestone in her march through the enviable ladder of democracy. Our leadership role in Africa will further be enhanced by the way and manner we manage the gains of this process. But I trust that the President-elect will live up to the expectations of many Nigerians that crave for change; and lift Nigeria to greater heights.
On his part, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar also commended both the President-elect, Buhari, and President Goodluck Jonathan for being part of the historic election.
Atiku in a statement issued last night, hailed Buhari for being elected the next president of Nigeria.
"You have led our party, the All Progressives Congress to an unprecedented victory within two years of its official formation, and in so doing, written the most important chapter of our democracy.
"The great Nnamdi Azikiwe once wrote that 'history will continue to vindicate the just.' Your victory in the polls, with votes from across the length and breadth of our country, bears witness to the acceptance of not just our party, the APC, but also your ideology of justice, fair play and zero tolerance for corruption as the bedrock for national rebirth.
"At this historic moment, it is most important to say a hearty thank you to every Nigerian who voted for the APC. Your votes have not just elected the first opposition party into federal power, but has also set a precedent which will have positive implications for democracy across Africa.
"Dear Buhari, the journey has just begun. Millions of Nigerians have put their trust in you, because they were not satisfied with the status quo. You represent the hope of a new generation of Nigerians, and you cannot afford to fail them. Our party has made a promise of change to our young people, to secure and rebuild our country, create jobs and opportunity, and improve citizens’ welfare. We will stand behind you to ensure we keep those promises, just like we did during these elections," he said.
Atiku said the country needs a new direction, adding that Buhari should see his office as an opportunity to unite and rally them for development.
"We have voted for you, and our party won the election, but when you assume our highest office, you must become the president of not just the APC, but all of Nigeria, including the people who did not vote for you. We look up to you to heal the fractures of our country, and truly unite this country like never before.
"To President Jonathan, I want to specially thank you for conducting a historic election. Your party may have lost the elections, but you have won the admiration of the world by not interfering with the wishes of Nigerians. History will be kind to you.
"It is my sincere hope that we will all come together as one country, to build the Nigeria of our dreams," he said.
Beyond the eulogy of President Jonathan, the National Leader of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described Buhari's victory as Nigeria's finest moment in its political history.
"It is a moment when hope is re-born, faith is rekindled and a fresh fire of patriotism is released for the task ahead. I congratulate General Buhari, Nigeria's President-elect on his hard won victory. I salute our gallant party leaders and members for running the long distance to victory. To millions of Nigerians I say this- the APC seeks not power for its sake, but for the purpose of bringing a better life to our people and re-building our country.
This is also democracy' s finest moment. Nigerians alive today have witnessed the beginning of an era of change . They made this happen and they are the true celebrants and they are deserving. Together we share this victory. Side by side we would work together to bring our country back," he said.
In the same vein, one of the leaders of APC and a former governor of old Abia State, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, said: "I am very happy that Nigerians have given us the opportunity to address the problems of the nation. I am confident that APC will show that many of these problems of the country can be solved. We thank Nigerians because it is very important that the party tries to live up to the expectations of Nigerians".
From Ekiti State also came a congratulatory message from its governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, one of the most virulent critics of the Buhari candidacy.
In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor said the election results should not been seen as victory or loss for any political party, adding that: "To me, Nigerians and democracy won."
Fayose commended the resilience of President Jonathan and Gen. Buhari for their patriotism, urging them to work together to move the nation forward in all spheres.
The governor said the results of the election must be taken in good faith, adding: "The election result is the will of God and Nigerians , and all lovers of peace, progress and development of Nigeria must accept it."
He praised Nigerians for believing in the democratic process, adding that: "By this election, Nigerians have shown that democracy has come to stay in the country.
"I salute President Jonathan for laying the most solid foundation for democracy in Nigeria. And I salute Major General Buhari for being a resilient and dogged fighter.
"I urge Nigerians, irrespective of their ethnic, religious and political affiliations to respect the outcome of the election in the interest of peace, progress and development of the country."
In a state-wide broadcast, he imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on all parts of the state, to prevent violence after the declaration of the results of the presidential poll.
He said the 12-hour curfew, which began yesterday, would last between 7.30 pm and 6.00am, being part of the efforts to ward off any form of crisis in the state.
The governor, however, did not mention how many days the restriction would last, but emphasised the need for people to exercise restraint for Ekiti to be in peace.
Meanwhile, the APC has rolled out the drums to celebrate its victory starting with a reception for Buhari at the party's national headquarters in Abuja last night.
As soon as it became obvious that Buhari was coasting home to victory with the majority of the results from states already announced, the leadership of APC started making arrangements to formally receive Buhari and the Vice-President-elect, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
As early as 8.00 am yesterday, many of the party faithful started milling around the party’s secretariat waiting for the final result to be announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The party secretariat was beautifully decorated with newly procured Nigerian flags and APC flags and with a red carpet laid out in wait for the triumphal entry of Buhari.
The atmosphere was charged as the secretariat staff and supporters of the party who besieged the place kept singing and drumming. Even as at 7pm, the supporters kept pouring into the secretariat, men, women all dressed in various attires depicting the APC party colours and symbol.
Party leaders, men and women, were hugging one another in excitement not even the religious restrictions could stop the elaborate warm embrace that were exchanged between men and women during the celebration.
Among the leaders of the party who came early to congratulate the president-elect were Governor of Nasarawa State Tanko Al Makura, Governor of Ogun State Ibikunle Amosun and Imo State governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha.
In anticipation of victory of its presidential candidate, the APC had begun the decoration and beautification of the national campaign headquarters in Abuja.
The two-storey building, luxury office where all the campaign plans and activities were plotted suddenly started wearing a new look yesterday with the walls beautifully adorned with colourful ribbons.
THISDAY also gathered that the party leadership has commenced the procurement of customized T-shirts with various inscriptions in praise of the opposition party and its leaders, all in anticipation of the declaration of its presidential candidate, Buhari, as winner of the poll.
According to the spokesman of the APC presidential campaign, Mallam Garba Shehu, the decoration of the campaign office was to reflect the joyous, celebration mood of Nigerians.
"Yes, as you can see our campaign office has been decorated in line with the celebration of the victory of APC at the polls," he said.
But away from the celebratory mood, Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State who also served as the Director General of the APC Campaign organisation, has reaffirmed the campaign promises of the APC, adding that the party will be magnanimous in victory.
Amaechi, who said this at the party’s secretariat in Abuja, noted that the government of Muhammadu Buhari would be all-inclusive.
Amaechi, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), noted that, “After the announcement, it will become clearer to the nation that APC has won the election and we will be magnanimous in victory.
“We cherish this victory so much but it is not only about celebration, it is about the seriousness of governance and you must see the difference between us the current government.
“If we say there is incompetence, we must show competence; If we say there was corruption, we must show that we will not be corrupt.
“If we say that people were denied their basic rights, we must protect the rights of people.
“If we say there was impunity, we must govern by the rule of law and once we show that, you will see the basic difference between us and the current government," Amaechi said.
He noted that the victory of the party at the presidential election was historic as it was the first time in the history of the country’s democracy that an incumbent federal government would be defeated.
“The victory is historical to me. I will be proud to tell my children that for the first time in the history of Nigeria, the opposition party was able to rout the government and party in power.
“We were able to present a different picture of what life looks like which is giving the people the courage to confront the current government on corruption and confront the fact that people were hungry.
“This is because they don’t go to the same market as other Nigerians go.
“They have the kind of funds they want and they eat the kind of food they want to eat but Nigerians were dying of hunger.
“We want to let Nigerians know that Boko Haram was not about religion alone, there was element of poverty and ignorance," he added.
Amaechi also said that the incoming government would have to deal with the falling standard of education and unemployment in the north and south.
He added that the Buhari administration would make Nigerians to understand that religion was never an issue in Nigeria
Igbo, Delta Candidates Spring Surprise in Lagos, Win Three House Seats
In what may turn out to be one of the significant upsets in this year’s general election, Igbos living in Lagos have made a significant statement by clearing at least two House of Representatives seats out of the five won by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Although most of the House seats lost by the APC were in the Igbo-dominated local government areas of the state, the AP victory was situated in the heart of Mushin, another crucial part of the state.
In total, the All Progressives Congress (APC) lost six seats to the opposition in the state. While the PDP cleared five seats, three of which were won by candidates of South-east origin, the Accord Party (AP) won the sixth.
Although most of the House seats lost by the APC were in the Igbo-dominated local government areas of the state, the AP victory was situated in the heart of Mushin, another crucial part of the state.
For instance, in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, which has a high South-eastern population, particularly in areas like Kirikiri, Satellite Town and FESTAC, the PDP candidate, Oghene Egboh, who is from Delta State, defeated Mr. Ganiyu Olukolu of the APC.
The same scenario played out in Ajeromi/Ifelodun, another densely-populated area in Lagos State, which is home to Ajegunle (an Igbo-dominated area), as the PDP candidate, Mrs. Rita Orji, a South-easterner and lawyer, defeated Taiwo Adenekan of the APC.
In Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency 2, the incumbent, Mr. Akeem Munir, lost to Mr. Tony Nwoolu of the PDP, also an Igbo man.
Still for the PDP, the story was not different in another Igbo-dominated Ojo council are, where the PDP candidate, although a Yoruba man, Mr. Tajudeen Obasa, won the seat.
Also, in Surulere Federal Constituency 2, in which Aguda is situated and a few other Igbo settlements, Mr. Tunji Soyinka of the PDP defeated Mr. Hakeem Bamgbala of the APC.
Apart from the “Igbo factor”, it was learnt that the incumbent, Mr. Aliyu Kazeem, had been in court with Bamgbala over the conduct of the primary. Thus the division within the party was believed to have given the PDP the leverage in the community.
The APC candidate in Mushin Federal Constituency 2, Mr. Yemi Alli, who incidentally, is a three-time former local government chairman in Mushin, lost to Hon. Dauda Kako-Aare of the AP.
Kako-Aare, the incumbent, had lost at the APC primary last December to Alli but defected to AP, where he eventually retained his seat.
PDP vows to challenge Buhari’s victory at tribunal
The Peoples Democratic Party has said it will challenge the outcome of the March 28 presidential election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, through its Chairman and Chief Returning Officer, Prof. Attahiru Jega, on Wednesday morning, declared Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.) of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the election.
The PDP through its agent at the National Collation Centre in Abuja on Wednesday, when the final result was declared, had refused to sign the result sheet despite its candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, having earlier conceded defeat.
The agent of the PDP, Bello Fadile, who was in attendance when parties were being called upon to sign the result sheet, told journalists shortly after the result was declared that the party was not satisfied with the outcome of the election and had decided to challenge it at the election tribunal.
“Whether I sign it (the result sheet) or I don’t sign it, does not make any difference. It doesn’t invalidate the result. When we go to court, then we can challenge the result,” Fadile said.
When asked to confirm if the PDP will challenge the result at the presidential election petitions tribunal, Fadile added, “Sure! The party petitioned. Don’t forget. So the party will follow through the petition. There are rules for this. The law is there.
“The result was declared on the 1st of April, I think. We will follow the due process. Like the president (Jonathan) said, ‘If you have any grievances, follow due process and the due process in this instance is to go to the tribunal.”

Bedecked in white Babanriga and flanked by National Commissioners, Jega, who began the announcement of results at exactly 2.47am, said: “Before I announced the results, I will like to express our gratitude to all Nigerians for the opportunity to serve this country.
“We also commend all Nigerians for coming out in large number during the election. I also express our appreciation to our staff, both permanent and ad hoc, who worked tirelessly for the success of the poll, especially the young members of the National Youth Service Corps who added value.”
After the signing of the results by all parties except the PDP, Jega declared Buhari as the winner of the election.
The agent of the PDP, Dr. Bello Fadile, who merely shook Jega’s hand, said he had “no instruction to sign the result sheet.”
He said: “By the powers conferred on me by the Constitution and the Electoral Act, I hereby certified that I was a Returning Officer for the election held on the 28th of March 2015.
“That the election was conducted and that the candidates received the following votes.
“That Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes cast, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”
Responding to a question, Jega said “while Buhari has spread in 27 states, the candidate of the PDP has the spread in 26 states.
“The canddates are expected to score 25 per cent of the total votes cast in two-thirds of the Federation.”

Buhari polled 15, 424, 921 to emerge top ahead of his main rival President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (12, 853, 162).
The number of accredited voters for the March 28, Presidential Election was 31, 746,490.
Although the total votes cast were 29,432, 083, the difference between Buhari’s votes and Jonathan’s was 2, 571,759.
While the valid votes amounted to 28,587,564, the number of rejected votes was 844, 519.
The victory of Buhari re-wrote the electoral history of the nation in five ways:
• the first time in the history of Nigeria that an incumbent President will be defeated;
• the first time a party in power for 16 years will be voted out of government by Nigerians in preference for the opposition party;
• the first time a merged party will win election at the centre since 1962 when the opposition had been forming coalition to rule the country;
• the first time a candidate who had contested and failed three times will win at the fourth attempt;
• the first time a Septuagenarian will be elected Nigeria’s President like the case in Senegal; the US and others.
Jega, who made the declaration after the collation of results at the National Collation Centre at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, said Buhari has met the requirements in Section 134(2) of the 1999 Constitution to be elected as the President of Nigeria.
The constitutional requirements are winning a simple majority of the total votes cast and 25 per cent of the votes in at least 24 states of the Federation during the presidential election.
Section 134 of the 1999 Constitution says: “A candidate for an election to the Office of the President shall be deemed to have been duly elected where there being more than two candidates for the election (a) he has the highest number of votes cast at the election; and (b) he has not less than one-quarter of the votes cast at the election in each of at least two-thirds of all the states in the Federation and the Federal capital Territory.”
He gave the breakdown of the performance of the 14 parties that participated in the presidential poll as follows:
• AA—-Tunde Kelani—–22,125
• ACPN—-Ganiyu Galadima—-40,311
• AD— Rafiu Salahu—-30,673
• ADC— Dr. Mani Ibrahim Ahmed——-29, 666
• APA—-Ayeni Musa Adebayo—–53, 537

I regret my action, says Orubebe
A former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe has apologized to Nigerians for his infamous act during the collation of the Presidential election results Tuesday.
Orubebe said he sincerely regretted his action as he allowed his emotion to betray him.
He pleaded with Niger Delta youths not to perpetrate violence because of the election of the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
He explained that politics is an emotional thing and that was what happened and it is not something he would want to happen again.
The former minister had disrupted proceeding for about 30 minutes while also accusing the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega of being biased.
Orubebe, who was one of the agents of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the National Collation Centre in the discharge of his duties, expressed his regrets during an interaction with newsmen at the National Collation Centre in Abuja.
He also commended President Goodluck Jonathan for his statesmanship in congratulating General Muhammadu Buhari on his victory.
He said the President’s acceptance of defeat was the right thing to do.
He said: ”Election is a passionate thing and I really regretted what took place this morning. I was unnecessarily pushed by Jega to get to that level and I did make that statement.
“I want to apologise particularly to young Nigerians that look up to take politics as a career to say that what happened was not intended to cause them any embarrassment.
“To Nigerians generally, I regret my actions as even an elder in the Church, and a leader, the young men expected to see a lot from me and I believe that if there was any disappointment they got from me I apologize to Nigerians and to the youths of this country.”
A sober Orubebe asked Niger Delta youths not to take the laws into their hands on the outcome of the Presidential Election.
He added: “We have always talked about peace in this country and remember that when there was crisis in Niger Delta, I was one of the architects that sacrificed to go the creeks to tell the militants that we need peace in this country alongside President Goodluck Jonathan.
“Politics is a process, today it is Mr. A, tomorrow is Mr. B. That is why I am saying that we should be talking about the unity of this country. We shouldn’t be talking about sectional things; we shouldn’t be talking about religion.
“God has a reason for bringing us together in this geographical area called Nigeria. We should live as one and if we are given responsibility to do anything, we should fair to all and treat everybody equally. But I believe that tomorrow is another day. If today is somebody else turn, tomorrow can be another person’s turn.
“So I believe in the unity and peace of this country, I believe the young ones that are coming up will learn from us the way these things are handled. We have seen what the president did and we are also following in his footstep. So I speak to them to embrace peace, to look forward to see another great day.”
On President Jonathan’s sportsmanship attitude, he said: “Two things are in place. The president is the president of everybody, whether he contested with Buhari or not. He has seen the results displayed everywhere and it is only one that is remaining and he has also seen that even if he wins that one the figures as presented by INEC keeps Buhari on lead. As a statesman and as a president he has done what he should do.”
Orubebe however was not categorical on whether PDP will accept the results of the Presidential Election or not.
He said the PDP agents had a duty to submit a report of their observations at the National Collation Centre to the headquarters of the party where leaders will make an appropriate statement.
He said: “I cannot decide, for PDP is a large family, we are sent on an errand you go and be an agent, see what is happening there and come back to report to us. We will go and report to the party and the party will take the necessary action it has to take.
”The rest is for PDP as a party to get briefing from us and make a statement. You remember what happened in Ekiti recent governorship election, the governor congratulated his opponent and the party went back and said this is what they have seen. The candidate is not the party, he is a candidate and he has acted very well as a statesman, and as the president, the father of all, for us we are agents to be here to see what transpired here and give report to them.”
