The Minister of State for Power, Barrister Mohammed Wakil made the call yesterday in Maiduguri in continuation of his town hall meetings in support of President Jonathan.
The Minister who is also the State Coordinator of PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, said Federal Government will secure all citizens in their states before and after the elections.
The minister’s appeal was re- echoed by the President of Ohaneze Youth Coalition,Borno state chapter ,Chief Ikechukwu Egodike who warned that fleeing the north will be counter productive.
Addressing the groups which include the Christian Youth Coalition ,the minister said running away from the North will deprive many southerners their voting power ,advising that ” this country belongs to all of us and you must stay and use your vote to elect your preferred leader.
Wakil further said a vote for Jonathan is a choice for continuous transformation of Nigeria for the better. According to him, it is in the interest of the North to vote for Jonathan so that by 2019,the North can commence it’s tenure till 2027.
Speaking at the event,the Ohaneze Youth leader said, “Igbos should not run away from North as we should not succumb to intimidation and blackmail .If we run away from North,we are not going to be safe in the South East.
” The APC government is intimidating and harassing us .But we are not shaking .We are mobilising Igbos and other non indigenes to vote for President Jonathan”,the youth leader said.
