The accused, who allegedly committed the crime on the 6th of February 2015 at about 10 pm, was arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court in Lagos.
Lanre was said to have gone in search of her son, Victor, who went missing in her ex-husbands house located at Amore Street, Olodi Apapa.
In the course of her search, Lanre was said to have shone the touch she was holding on Mrs. Chinyere Onyekwere, a tenant to her ex-husband who was sleeping in front of her room on a mat.
An argument ensued between the accused and Onyekwere who did not find the act pleasant.
In the course of their argument, Lanre went for a cutlass in a corner with which she used in hacking Onyekwere in the jaw.
The charge reads, “That you, Okah Lanre, 48, on February 6, 2015, at about 10.10 pm, on Amore Street, Olodi Apapa, in the Apapa Magisterial District, did unlawfully conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by entering into the compound of one Chinyere Onyekwere and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 166 (I) (D) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
“That you, Okah Lanre, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid magisterial district, did unlawfully assault one Chinyere Onyekwere with a cutlass which caused her harm on her lower jaw and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.”
The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Adekomaya adjourned the case till March 23 and granted Lanre bail in the sum of N30,000 and two sureties in like sum.
