Student stabbed to death over mobile phone in Minna

Hoodlums numbering about five have stabbed a 21-year-old student, Mohammed Abubakar Nagenu, to death in Sango area of Minna, Niger State after he was dispossessed of his phone.

The incident occurred at about 6pm on Friday after Nagenu traveled to Minna to visit his uncle. He was stabbed after the hoodlums demanded for his mobile phone.
Nagenu was said to have heeded their demand but asked for his sim card. This infuriated the hoodlums who stabbed him to death.

 

It was gathered that the perpetrators usually harass passerby and do dispossess them of their belongings.

Commenting on the death of Nagenu, Mallam Mohammed Ndagi, uncle to the deceased said the late Nagenu was awaiting admission and had recently visited him.
Ndagi said, “They have been terrorizing people. They take advantage of the students of the State College of Education, Minna. They will not do it to the people they know. My nephew just came from the village recently and they did not know him; that is why they decided to attack him.”

 

He added that the case has been reported at the Chanchaga police division and three of the boys have been apprehended.
