AMAZING! Nigerian Governor To Sponsor 22 Footballers To Europe

Bayelsa state governor, Dickson Seriake, has concluded plans to ‘ship’ 22 football players to Europe, Naij.com has gathered.

According to a report on The Punch, the players will be selected from the Governor Dickson’s Football Tournament, and will embark on a playing tour of Europe.

Some players of the Pepsi Football Academy, they might be lucky to be among the team to Europe.

Speaking during the unveiling of the mascot and presentation of jerseys for the championship in Yenogoa, the state capital, the governor who was represented by his deputy, Rear Admiral John Jonah (retd.), insisted that youths being the future of any nation, needed to be encouraged to utilise their skills for the overall good of the society.

He explained that the tournament, which is also called Restoration Cup 2015 and will last for two months, was being organised as part of the state government’s human capacity building efforts to empower youths of the state, through sporting activities.

The governor wants young people to take keen interest in football alongside their education, as it is also one of the platforms that will provide self-actualisation and the overall betterment of the society.
It is hoped this will not end in the recently publicised Fifa scandal, where underage footballers were illegally trafficked to Asia.
