Emir of Kano bails out 40 prisoners for N6.4m

The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II has granted about 40 inmates their freedom by paying their fines totaling N6.4 million.
The inmates, imprisoned for various degrees of offenses were released yesterday from Goron Dutse and Kurmawa prison yards.
Emir Sanusi II, who is the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, in his address to the inmates, urged the prisoners to be of good character as they are being fully incorporated into the society.

Sanusi II stated that his visit to the prison was part of the activities to commemorate the last ten days of Ramadan, when Muslim faithfuls are encouraged to increase their devotion to Almighty Allah.
Reports disclosed that the 40 prisoners ought to have been released on bail but failed because of financial inadequacies.

In his remark, the Comptroller of Kurmawa prison, Auwalu Umar Diso praised the Emir for his kind gesture towards the plights of the inmates.
